Eulerian-Lagrangian simulation of air-steam biomass gasification in a bubbling fluidized bed gasifier

To numerically study biomass gasification in a three-dimensional bubbling fluidized bed, CFD-DEM (computational fluid dynamics – discrete element method) model with heat transfer and homogeneous heterogeneous chemical reactions is implemented. An ideal reactor used for the air-steam bed (BFB) assuming perfectly mixed solids plug flow. A validated computational particle (CPFD) has been applied to investigate sensitivity analysis of mesh grids as well find optimum number grids. The result shows that 7452 grid cells are optimal existence BFB gasifier. effects key process operating parameters such steam ratio (SB), temperature by enhancing SB or temperature, gas yields increase. H2 CO2 concentrations promote increasing while CO CH4 production drop. value can be found range 0.3 1.
